What is an NFC business card?
The NFC business card from Smart Giveaway replaces the classic paper card with a durable medium made of metal or high-quality PVC with an integrated NFC chip. When the card is held against a smartphone, a digital profile opens without an app, showing contact details, website, social media links and a button for direct appointment booking. The other party can save the contact to their address book with a single tap.
For B2B users this is relevant for three reasons. First, the information stays up to date, as phone number, job title or employer can be adjusted in the dashboard at any time without printing new cards. Second, every exchange generates measurable data, meaning taps, save events and clicks on calendar or website. How it works
The card contains an NTAG215 chip with 504 bytes of memory, encapsulated between two metal or PVC layers and designed for ISO 14443A at 13.56 MHz. The chip holds a short URL that points to a digital profile on smart-giveaway.ch. Alternatively, a vCard can be stored directly, which the phone saves without an intermediate page. The read distance is 1 to 4 centimetres.
The digital profile consists of name, role, company, phone, email, website, up to eight social or messenger links and a photo or logo. Optionally, a calendar widget can be embedded, for example from Calendly, Microsoft Bookings or Google Calendar, so that prospects can book an appointment directly. Every tap and every action within the profile, meaning call, email, calendar click or vCard download, is logged in anonymised form. Changes to the profile or URL are possible at any time, including retroactively for cards already distributed. The chip is rewritable more than 100,000 times, the card itself is water- and scratch-resistant.
Personalisation and variants
Three versions are available. The metal card made of brushed stainless steel in black, silver or gold weighs 35 grams and is finished by laser engraving. The PVC card in credit card format weighs 6 grams and is printed in four colours, optionally with partial UV coating. The premium wooden card made of FSC-certified bamboo or walnut is laser-engraved and is suited for sustainability-oriented brand presences.
All variants conform to the standard format of 85 by 54 millimetres and fit into any wallet. The front side usually carries the name, function and company logo, the back side a small tap hint with NFC symbol. The digital profile can be tailored to the corporate design, including colour palette, typeface, background image and custom subdomain such as your-company.smart-giveaway.ch. For larger teams, central administration is available in which HR or marketing can manage all profiles centrally and deactivate or transfer them when staff changes occur.
Ordering and delivery
The minimum order quantity is one card, though bundling from the full team onwards makes sense. The unit price decreases in tiers, from CHF 8.00 for PVC, from CHF 18.00 for metal and from CHF 24.00 for wood. Each card is programmed, tested and individually packaged in Switzerland. The production and delivery time is 5 to 8 working days after layout approval.
Included in the price are the chip, finishing, individual digital profile, one year of hosting, analytics and unlimited profile changes. From the second year onwards, the hosting fee is CHF 24.00 per profile per year, on request with white-label on your own domain. For corporate customers an admin login is available, through which new employee cards can be ordered, existing profiles edited and usage reports exported as PDF. Shipping is insured via Swiss Post, and on request delivered directly to the employees’ home addresses.
