What are NFC display frames?
NFC display frames are high-quality picture frames with an integrated NFC tag, designed for stationary use in showrooms, reception areas, at trade fairs and in hotel lobbies. They combine classic print design with a digital interaction layer. The visitor sees a printed motif in the frame, for example a product photo, an awards overview or a service card, and can call up further digital content immediately with a smartphone tap on the frame label. Typical target content includes PDF brochures, product videos, appointment booking forms or price lists.
The frame does not replace a digital screen, it complements it. An NFC display frame costs a fraction of a digital signage screen, requires no power, no internet connection and no ongoing software maintenance. The printed motif remains unchanged for months or years, while the digital content behind it can be updated dynamically at any time. For Swiss B2B companies, the frame is therefore a durable POS instrument with minimal operating costs and maximum flexibility. The premium look in brushed aluminium or crystal-clear acrylic fits into modern office architectures, hotel lobbies and showroom concepts.
How visitor interaction works
Each frame contains an NFC chip embedded on the back or in the frame moulding. A discreet symbol on the printed motif or a small hint on the frame signals the tap zone to the visitor. The visitor holds their smartphone to the marked spot, a prompt appears on the display within a second, and a tap opens the target URL in the mobile browser. No app installation is required, and on iPhones from model XS and Android devices from version 8 the detection works in the background.
The stored content can be freely designed. Showroom visitors download a product catalogue as PDF, for example, reception visitors see a short welcome video from the managing director, trade-fair prospects fill out a lead form and then automatically receive the information material by email. Every tap is logged in the Smart Giveaway dashboard, including time of day, weekday and visitor frequency per frame. For companies with multiple locations, individual URLs can be assigned per frame, so that a frame in Zurich can display different content than a frame in Geneva or Basel, even though the printed motif is identical.
Personalisation and branding
The frames are available in the formats A5 (148 x 210 millimetres), A4 (210 x 297 millimetres) and A3 (297 x 420 millimetres). Materials include brushed aluminium in silver, black or champagne, as well as premium acrylic glass in crystal-clear, satin or frosted finishes. Mounting is either via an invisible wall bracket with magnetic closure or via a solid base in chromed metal. For trade-fair use, a foldable transport stand with integrated spirit level is available.
The print motif is printed on 250 gram premium photo-print paper and is interchangeable at any time. Every frame comes with unlimited reprint rights, with new motifs available from 10 units at CHF 8.00 per A4 print. For seasonal campaigns we recommend ordering 3 to 4 motif variants per frame directly, so that reception staff can change the motif independently. The NFC tag can be configured independently of the frame, allowing you to insert a new motif and at the same time adjust the target URL via the dashboard, without having to dismount the frame.
Ordering and delivery
The minimum order quantity is 10 units, with a combination of different formats within one order possible. The tiered price starts at CHF 24.00 per frame for A5 in aluminium from 50 units and reaches CHF 89.00 for A3 in premium acrylic with stand at 10 units. All prices are net including NFC programming, print production and frame assembly. The individual URL configuration per frame is free of charge, as is its maintenance over the entire product lifetime.
The delivery time is 3 to 4 weeks from print approval, as frames and prints are manufactured in Switzerland. Express production in 10 working days is possible at a surcharge, but assumes a maximum scope of 20 frames. Every frame is delivered preassembled in protective packaging, with the print motif already inserted and the NFC tag configured. On arrival the frame is ready for immediate use. On request we handle the on-site commissioning in German-speaking Switzerland, French-speaking Switzerland and Ticino, including wall mounting and training of the reception staff. This service is charged by effort and is sensible from an order of 15 frames upwards.
